Worn, damaged or plugged tips are costly to the environment and your bottom line. As tips wear out, their orifices become enlarged, resulting in over application and uneven application of chemicals. Just 10% increase in flow from worn tips represent a loss of $2,000 to $10,000 on a twice-sprayed 1,000-acre farm (at $10-$50/acre chemical cost). And when the potential environmental and crop damage is considered, the real cost is almost immeasurable. The good news is, monitoring and maintaining tip performance is one of the easiest ways to help keep a sprayer operating accurately and efficiently.
> As a rule, replace tips worn (10% or more) or damaged at the beginning of each spraying season
> Only use the tip type that is recommended for your particular spraying application
> Calibrate your sprayer regularly to compensate for normal tip wear
> Monitor spray performance to catch worn, damaged, or plugged tips

AutoTracTM RowSenseTM and AutoTracTM Vision
AutoTracTM RowSenseTM system is hardware and software that is added to a sprayer to guide the machine through standing crop. As an example, it’s the perfect guidance for applications in taller corn. However, most operators spray more than just late-season corn. For spraying or dry-box applications in pre-emerge situations, AutoTracTM provides the best option to minimize overlap, reduce input costs, and maximize equipment efficiency.
AutoTracTM Vision decreases crop damage, reduces operator fatigue and operates at a higher speed compared to manual driving by enabling the sprayer to follow the actual planted crop. When spraying early, post-emerge crops such as corn, soybeans, and cotton, AutoTracTM Vision provides accurate row following to minimize crop damage while maximizing machine efficiency. AutoTracTM Vision uses a front-mounted camera to see early-season corn, soybeans and cotton at least 4 to 6 inches high.
