How to Handle Your Farm Data Before It Handles You
What technology has done for modern agriculture is truly amazing. With any change, there are two sides to the story. Precision technology has given us a tremendous amount of data which allows us to make more informed and better decisions to increase yields, become more efficient, and collaborate between stakeholders in your and other operations. Sounds great right? On the contrary, all this data comes from everywhere and everyone... emails, text messages, meetings, and conferences, it just doesn’t stop. It is easy to get decision making paralysis from over analysis.
John Deere and Martin understand the pressures you face in keeping all your data straight and we want to help by introducing you to the John Deere Operations Center. A data warehouse to manage, educate, and collaborate with all stakeholders in one hub. Martin’s Operations Center expert Blake Schoonover has weighed in on the advantages of the Operations Center how it has evolved and witnessed first-hand success stories.
When it comes to data I’ve been getting one question over all else lately; How can I get everything into one location versus needing two or even three programs? When you document with John Deere displays in half your equipment and Ag Leader or Precision Planting in the other half it can all get a little confusing but that’s where the Operations Center can clean it all up. Once we get the data into the Ops Center we can keep it there and do all our manipulations without needing any other program. Or, if you prefer to use a 3rd party program like Fieldview or Encirca that data can be seamlessly transferred based on prior connections we set up with those 3rd parties.
The Operations Center has come a long way over the past few years. If you were one of the early adopters, you definitely know what I’m talking about. It’s become a very user-friendly platform that not only is used to save and manipulate operational data but also boundaries, guidance lines, machines, products and a multitude of other items. It also works perfectly in conjunction with John Deere’s My Operations app which will allow you to view your data on the go from your phone or tablet.
